The Dob Street Transformer Station redesign revitalizes a 55-year-old industrial building in downtown Pest, merging functionality with community needs. Leveraging modern technology, the transformers are consolidated into a smaller space, freeing the rest for a vertical park that offers relaxation, and urban respite. A steel structure supports wild grape vines, creating a green façade that shades the building in summer and lets light through in winter. The interior integrates nature-inspired design with open platforms, meeting spaces, coworking offices, and a rooftop park. A camping site atop a sound-dampened transformer box caters to digital nomads and tourists, addressing housing demands. The project preserves the building’s robust appearance while transforming it into a climate-friendly, cultural hub. Combining industrial function with innovative community uses, it symbolizes urban renewal, providing green space, housing solutions, and inspiration to locals and visitors alike.
