The aim of the project was to revive an old boiler house located in the garden of a condominium in Buda and integrate it back into the condominium's system. A crucial aspect of the plan was to give the new building a community-building role and strive for sustainability in its realization. Our proposal involved creating a communal kitchen and dining area, and establishing a vegetable garden based on permaculture principles in the garden. For us, activities like communal gardening, cooking, and eating are capable of bringing together a diverse residential community, similar to what is often found in co-housing setups. To ensure the sustainability of our project, we implemented a rainwater storage system. We then verified through calculations that the stored and purified water could meet the water consumption needs of the kitchen and garden. As an experiment, we replaced the glass surfaces with dye-sensitized solar cells.
