Urbanization leads to the decline of natural habitats, posing a significant problem for wildlife. Walking the streets of Budapest, one mainly sees feral pigeons, while songbirds are less common. The garden at Magyar Jakobinusok Square 2-3 offers a sanctuary for urban birds. Based on data from the Hungarian Ornithological and Nature Conservation Society, we designed nesting boxes catering to the needs of species like the Balkan pied flycatcher, starling, and coal tit. The building was designed with minimal intervention, preserving the original structure, repurposing the boiler house for the Society's activities. The concept juxtaposes urban and green zones, expressed through concrete and perforated metal cladding, symbolizing both brutality and lightness. The contrast between the rectangular lower structure and the curved upper part reflects the growth pattern of trees. Regnum Avis initiative fosters coexistence between nature and the city, supporting both wildlife and people.
