In Diósd, the limestone of the Tétény Plateau was mined until 1980. Over the years, the ancient area has been completely transformed by human hands, and as a result, a site on the border between natural landscape and industrial area has emerged. However, the question is what to do with a space that no longer wants to be industrial, but nature cannot completely reclaim it either, after the quarrying has ceased. A strong sense of abandonment gradually permeates the quarry’s interior (despite the city's efforts), intensified by graffiti-covered walls, scattered debris, and broken lamps hanging from the ceiling. In my design process, I sought a solution to this challenge. I looked for situations that, with minor or major changes, would result in much more functional spaces. My goal was to maximize the potential of the existing environment while fostering a balanced relationship between nature and human influence, ensuring that neither dominates the other.
