What is so special about the world of stone quarries is that we can observe the beauty and power of nature through human intervention. This atmosphere can be felt in the three quarries of Diósd with their different faces. Our essay is about the upper quarry, which is half-opencast and half-underground. Behind the huge shafts and in the empty field left by the surface quarrying, there is a lot of unused potential and the aesthetic value of the earlier renovation is also questionable. We have sought architectural answers to these problems and created various spatial experiments, reflecting on the existing identity of the quarry, the beauty of nature and landscape, and the idea of timelessness through the spatiality of the resulting monolithic dolmens.
