Supplementary space

The base of the project is an abandoned industrial building in a block of the XII. district, which shows a very interesting contrast to the living, sprawling character of the inner garden. Inspired by this, I started to look for different types of connections between the natural and the built environment. The collection resulted first in a series of photographs, then in a series of abstract models, which I used to present the gradient between the fully natural and the fully artificial environment in 9 phases. After that, corresponding to the phases I found, I painted 9 small pictures of the building's details; some of them are suggested renovations, but mostly just highlighting the current state. Therefore the aim of the thesis is to show the beauty of the found state, to build a deeper motivation in the local inhabitants, rather than to present a specified renovation plan.
