Our concept focuses on the representation of an absence. Our main aim is to create an opportunity for people to get to know and discover the often forgotten past and the tiny yet crucial details of the Tabán district. Inspired by the work of Rachel Whiteread, we want to create a space for memory through sculptural means. We will use details of inns, shops and houses as a basis for moulds. Negative imprints are thus created, representing the absence of a rich past. We place a moment of the past in stone as a tactile sculpture in the park. These can be, for example, imprints of lonely portals scattered around the park. The objects would be placed as accurately as possible in their former locations, evoking the old urban fabric and reflecting the density of the former cultural nodes. Our installation would offer an opportunity for people of all ages to learn about the past and make connections between timelines, thus strengthening the increasingly faded memory of the Tabán.
