Bathhouse, Timișoara

The concept was inspired by the memory of a Turkish bath in downtown Timișoara. The design reinterprets the bath’s functional spaces with contemporary tools, arranged vertically to fit the narrow plot. The spatial organization is strictly structured and characterized by directed space usage. The bathing areas are located in the inner core of the house, making the entry of light the key challenge. On the street-facing facade, light enters in a hidden way due to the facade offsets, while on the courtyard side, it enters through small openings. Both inside and outside, the house appears as a solid, monolithic mass, with built-in furnishings and seating integrated into the walls and niches.
