For many, the village of Bakonybél is a place of retreat and spiritual recharging, and the spirituality of the village is largely defined by the Benedictine monastery of St Maurice. The Hangolo is a place and a community that conveys this peace and tranquillity through the language of music, and in this way connects people who come here. The design site is located in the centre of the town, opposite the monastery, in the middle of the plum-shaped area bounded by St. Gellért Square and Petőfi Street. The building is a small-scale music centre, the main elements of which are a small concert hall and practice rooms. Concerts, music camps and weekend programmes can be organised here, even in the courtyard, and on weekdays the facility will provide a rehearsal room for schoolchildren from Bakonybél and a practice room for musicians living in the area. It is important to actively connect with the environment by creating a small-scale building that blends in with the built environment.
