Music Centre, Oradea

Oradea has a remarkable musical history, but the practice of musical impressionism, rooted in the city, is now forgotten. In the concept, I placed a strong emphasis on musical self-expression, by toning down the urban impulses and leaving room for experimentation. The monolithic outer shell shelters a secret garden, the introverted spatial organisation creates an inspiring atmosphere encouraging internal focus. The neat and minimalist massing has an undertowed effect in the secessionist setting, its corner position attracting the attention of passers-by, inviting them in with its openings.
