My thesis is about an extension to an existing music school in a former synagogue, which was built in 1882, then used as a ghetto in 1944, and later converted into a music school. The new building set back from the street front, was built at the back of the site, with public spaces on the ground floor and rehearsal rooms on the upper floors, a concert hall on the 0. floor of the synagogue and a memorial space in the restored gallery. Instead of a complete reconstruction of the synagogue, I have chosen an experimental rehabilitation, using a collage analogy to present the history of the building's past and its community. The central element of the building, the high-level copper pipe railing of the gallery, in which the names of the preserved victims of the Holocaust are individually perforated. In the new building, children can learn in contemporary spaces, while the rabbinical house and synagogue are brought back to life in a way that highlights the importance of remembrance.
