The kindergarten is structured horizontally and vertically, with modules as the main building blocks. I have chosen a group room and the associated washroom as a module. In the design, I focused on the garden and its connection, so I created a larger courtyard by putting the blocks together and then moving them out. However, the group rooms also have smaller courtyards directly adjacent to them. If you look at the building, you see a solid lower part and an airy, 'floating' upper part. In fact, the building is one storey, but the gallery of the group room enlarges the interior spaces, surrounded only by windows, creating a sense of floating. I used four different colours to distinguish the modules and the steel bars at the windows. Such bars are also found around the inner courtyard, firstly as supporting elements and secondly as a playful addition to the space. The kindergarten is named after its colourful columns: the Rainbow Kindergarten.
