The center designed for the corner lot in Kassa offers much-needed creative workshops for local students. The concept is built upon the interplay of surrounding historicist facades and diverse roof forms. Both the building’s footprint and the linear system of the park were defined by a protected tree standing on the square; this grid organizes both the floor plan and the openings. The building consists of two main units: a single-story creative wing facing the square and a two-story exhibition space that aligns with the neighboring building. The two are connected by a flat-roofed corridor and an inner courtyard designed for outdoor work. The order of the workshops (wood, clay, and paper) is maintained by integrated storage units. The use of materials is restrained, dominated by plastered walls and a sheet metal roof, while the interior features wood and concrete surfaces.
