University and Community Centre in Piata Rahovei, Oradea

There might be a way to give back the once spindle-shaped Piata Rahovei, which surrounded the church and has been gradually built up, to the many people who visit the buildings here: the university, the synagogue that serves as a museum and the Orthodox church. I wished to create a building that would make Piata Rahovei functional again, a place for the encounters that the diversity of the existing buildings makes possible. I added a wall that not only delimits the space, but also gives room for interaction and leads through to the shaded garden, where the community centre, which is attached to the firewall, opens up. It contains spaces that students can use as they wish, but are also open to all.
