The project aims to expand the museum by addressing spatial limitations while making its internal operations visible. By creating a clear and transparent structure, the design enhances the museum’s appeal for both visitors and staff. An important goal was to preserve the significance of the existing building and ensure that, together with the extension, it forms a coherent whole. The main entrance remains in the original wing, from which a continuous visitor route runs through the entire complex and returns to its starting point via the sculpture garden. Accordingly, the ground floor of the original building accommodates the arrival and reception spaces, while the 1930s extension retains its exhibition function on all levels. The new volume primarily serves to support and reveal the background processes essential to museum operation, housing visible storages and conservation workshops.
